So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them;
male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27
We all have a place on this earth. As purposed individuals we cannot act as quiet bystanders while there is unjust, non-humane behavior taking place right in front of us. God has given us daily tasks that require action. Watch the news for ten minutes and it is clear that there is much work to do. And when our world faces the same tragedies over and over, there is obviously a direct issue that we must target. Dictatorships continue to prevent believers from expressing their faith, babies go to bed hungry every night, and innocent black lives are being taken in the country in which their ancestors helped build.
Sadness, frustration, and disgust slightly scratch the surface of the emotions that I felt after learning that another black life had been taken by heartless cops. Murder is never necessary in detaining a violator of the law. How can we fight bad behavior with worse behavior? When is it ever okay to kill someone especially as an armed serviceman whose job it is to protect and serve?
It’s funny how we can be slain as game and then forewarned not to react. Oh we will respond but we can do so in a manner that doesn’t result in the destruction of the community in which we live. That only makes haters happier. We will respond by putting our foot down to evil, bringing our brains together to reinvent the nation we live in, and praying to build a wall of protection around our families and friends.
I am saddened when I hear people say, “Well he shouldn’t have done this or she shouldn’t have done that” in response to a victim’s mannerisms while being brutalized by police officers. That’s the same as saying of a woman who was beaten to death by her husband, “Well, she shouldn’t have tested him.” There is no excuse for murder. Policemen have become modern day gangsters. How can we expect them to protect us from the bad guys when they are criminals themselves?
This is a call to action. I salute the Black Lives Matter movement because it supports the education of an unjust judicial system. We are ignoring the facts and that is that our black fathers, leaders, people have a place on this earth. God did not make a mistake when He created black men and regardless of their place of origin, background, appearance, or occupation they truly matter.
