Mid-Week Inspiration: Move Mountains

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

I understand the power of this scripture more now than ever before. When a challenge bigger than yourself is before you, you have one of two options: give up or attack it head on with faith. My faith has surmounted any obstacle that I could ever face. About four weeks ago I received a call that my father was rushed to the hospital. My immediate response, prayer. I was on a plane home that next morning. My dad had a stroke and was bleeding from the left side of his brain. As soon as I entered the room he opened his eyes and spoke.

Again I prayed. But it wasn’t me doing the praying.

“And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Romans 8:27

When we are earnest about what we are praying for, God will intercede for us. He knows what we need and He will cause those words to come out of our mouth so that He can be glorified when He answers that direct request.

More than asking for healing for my father or for peace for my family during this time, I asked God to show us our assignment. Why are we here? Why did He entrust us with this task? When you go through a hardship it is not because God is mad at you or punishing you or the devil is so big and powerful that he can attack and overtake you. God has to allow anything that the enemy throws at you to take place.

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

God has an assignment for you that requires you to face a hardship, endure, and come out stronger so that He may be glorified. If we never went through anything then the world would not witness what He is capable of. My dad is now out of the hospital and getting better and better each day. I promise you that if you build a strong relationship with Him, He will provide you strength you never imagined possible. When you feel as if you will faint, He will give you a boost of energy and power that you can only attribute to Him because in the natural you would literally pass out.

I urge you to connect with your Heavenly Father. I am so confident in the power of a relationship with Him. Without Him, when facing some of life’s obstacles we would go insane. But with Him there is nothing we can’t endure, and others will be saved because of the weight you were able to carry and toss.
