A month after gaining a full season slot of 22 episodes, Fox procedural Rosewood confirms Tia Mowry-Hardrict as a recurring character. The show starring Morris Chestnut as Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a Miami-based pathologist whose innate ability to see the truth in others and help solve homicide cases with Miami PD’s finest, has become a sure hit.
Tia will play Cassie, a once homeless teen turned entrepreneur who now owns a restaurant. Cassie is a lesbian and childhood friend of Dr. Rosewood’s sister Pippy (who is a lesbian engaged to her co-worker Tara) during a mysterious, troubling time of her past. What’s cool is Pippy, played by Gabrielle Dennis, also played the recurring role of Janay on The Game on which Tia was a main character.
I am an avid fan of Rosewood but I have to admit I was leery about the show getting full season orders. The show is pretty clean compared to its counterparts Empire (Rosewood precedes Empire on Fox’s Wednesday night line-up), Scandal, etc. Dr. Rosewood sees the good in people and helps bring positivity into their lives despite the fact that he has a life-threatening illness of his own. So due to the lack of scandalous “tea” and dirty drama, I was concerned about the show’s success. But I am grateful to see that there are people who just enjoy plain, good television.
Rosewood is a perfect combination of thrill, family, love, and comedy. I was disappointed when the recurring role of the beautiful, talented Nicole Ari Parker ended so I am excited to see Tia on the show. She and twin sister Tamera won me over on their reality show Tia & Tamera with their style, love for family, and work drive. I, however, am curious how Tia will attack this role. I guess we will have to tune in to see. Rosewood airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on Fox.
