“I want pockets in my dresses. I put pockets in everything! I want pockets inside my pockets.” –Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy warmed our hearts as the loving, quirky Sookie on the hit tv show Gilmore Girls. Since then her comedic career has taken off in films such as Bridesmaids and Spy; her role in This is 40 is a personal fave (you have to watch the outtakes). But now she’s dipping her funny chops in a new arena, fashion! Melissa launches her fashion label Melissa McCarthy Seven7.
“I just wanted to do a basic closet that I couldn’t find,” Melissa says in regards to her clothing line that comprises of everything a woman needs. Sizes range from 4-28 and are all priced under $150. The line debuts September 1 but will be introduced on HSN August 13.
Melissa reveals that fashion was her first choice of occupation:
“It’s always what I thought I would do,” explains Melissa. “I went into clothing and textiles in college and moved here with [shoe designer] Brian Atwood. I was going to finish at FIT and he made me do stand-up on the second night.” –Vogue
Well, we Melissa McCarthy fans are grateful for Brian Atwood noticing her funny bone. The celebrity that decision has afforded will play a large role in the success of her fashion endeavors.
Melissa’s clothing line, much like her personality is all about feeling good. Comfort is key in feeling confident when stepping out of the door each day. With comfy, affordable pieces she can’t go wrong. Be on the lookout for Melissa McCarthy Seven7 Sept. 1.
