Jennifer Hudson is giving us J-Hud fierceness in her new ads as the face of New York and Company’s Soho Jeans. The powerhouse singer will be taking her talents to the Big Apple to star in the Broadway production of The Color Purple where she will play Shug Avery. But in these ads she is taking us to the streets showing off the new new in NY & Company threads.
Jennifer displays the diversity of denim. From the classic bellbottom to the western-flavored, tied jean button up top to cuffed skinny jeans, the Dreamgirls star is showing us that whether dressed down or elegantly, denim can go with anything!
“What I love most about New York is the diversity. It’s a haven for individuality and I have always found that to be inspiring,” Hudson says in a statement. “That sort of energy affects me in all ways but especially when it comes to my style. New York & Company’s Soho Jeans Collection helps women the same way with a line that’s fashion forward, great fitting and comfortable for whatever your day brings.”
I am all the way here for this denim and cream collaboration. The tan sandal giving summer toe action is a perfect match up with this flowing kimono. Taking a simple pant leg and pairing with long tops and high heels is the simplest way to be comfy and glamorous for a night out in Manhattan.
These jeans definitely remind me of something I would have worn in grade school and I love it. A fashionista’s unwritten rule is to never toss her out-of-date wardrobe because it almost always comes back in style. I’m pretty sure my mother had a pair of these when she was in school as well. High-waisted bellbottoms, like my mama, only get better with time.
Jennifer’s entire look is five stars from the cut to the plum and cherry lip. What is your staple piece for summer? Mine is a cut-off tee with rugged boyfriend jeans. I love loose-fitting clothes that give me room to breathe in the summer heat but also allow me to be trendy. I’m not too into makeup on hot days so I’ll add mascara, a light blush and possibly a bold lip gloss to add a feminine touch. Leave your fave go-to’s in the comment section below.
