ABC announces that it will pick up new sitcom, Uncle Buck, based on the 1989 John Hughes film. The comedy will feature Nia Long, Mike Epps, James Lesure (For Your Love), Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi, and Aalyrah Caldwell.
Uncle Buck (Mike Epps) is a fun loving but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay. By happy coincidence, his nieces and nephew’s Nanny has just quit and his brother and sister-in-law need his help. His unconventional personality just may make him the right fit for the family and they may be the answer to his problems, too.
It looks like black television has re-emerged to major networks with successes such as Empire and Black-ish. Even other minority shows such as Jane the Virgin and Fresh Off the Boat have been picked up for second seasons. It’s refreshing to see shows that all races and cultures can relate to on tv screens.
Buck was written by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley. Executive producers are Steven Cragg, Brian Bradley and Will Packer.
