Lauryn Hill Slays Acoustic Version of “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in Apology to Nigeria

lauryn-hillLauryn Hill, the first female artist to win five Grammys in one night including “Album of the Year” for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill [the first hip-hop album to win the award] took to YouTube this morning to express her apologies for missing a show in Nigeria.

Lauryn was scheduled for her first performance in Nigeria for the inaugural May Day Live in Lagos on May 1st. However, due to a flight mix-up with the promoter, she and her 20-man band were unable to get to their destination.

She posted this picture with the following message on her Facebook page:

lauryn-hill-band“We are disappointed to report that we will not be performing at tonight’s concert. From our end, we did everything we were supposed to do, including waiting at the airport for many hours, ready to fly out and share the evening with you. Unfortunately, after much effort, the promoter was not able to get all of our travel arrangements taken care of. This prevented us from being able to fly into Nigeria in time to make the concert. We were all very excited to come, and very disappointed that we couldn’t make this one. HOWEVER, we are working to reschedule our appearance ASAP. From what we’ve been told, the promoter intends to honor all tickets sold. Our best to and for Lagos. Love and Blessings! -Ms. Lauryn Hill and the MLH band and Production Team.”

She later posted an amazing acoustic version of her 1998 hit “Doo Wop (That Thing)” with her background vocalists. Check it out below. Fiya!!! She looks stunning btw.
