Tyler Perry just may have his own television network soon. According to the New York Times, Perry and Lionsgate movie studio are working on a cable channel currently being called Tyler TV. The channel would feature Perry’s programming such as his sitcoms “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns” as well as his films.
Eventually other shows complimentary to Perry’s brand would be added to the line-up.
While everything is still in the works, the New York Times notes Lionsgate would be smart to expand with Perry considering his films have brought the movie company $522 million in ticket sales.
While I would love to see anything that Perry puts his hands on turn to success as I am an avid supporter, I don’t think he’s ready for his own tv network. His shows have not shown to be the best in quality in comparison to his films and he is not Oprah…not even close!
