The 2011 BET Awards hosted by actor/comedian Kevin Hart was full of excitement.  Kevin Hart definitely did his thang tonight as host.  From his mini stand-up to The Real Husbands of Hollywood skit starring Nelly, Jermaine Dupree, Anthony Anderson Bobby Brown, Nick Cannon, and Tami Roman.  Mary J. Blige opened the show thugging it out on stage performing her classics with special guest features from Anita Baker, Rick Ross, and Dj Khaled.  The show was followed by more greatness with Chris Brown performing She Ain’t You, Look At Me Now and finishing with Paper, Scissor, Rock.  Steve Harvey receiving the Humanitarian Award.  Kelly’s highly anticipated solo performance for her blazing Motivation single…Eeeeh…I wasn’t impressed with the vocals but she killed the dancing.

The Lifetime Achievement Award winner was the fabulous Ms. Patti LaBelle.  Her tribute included Ceelo (completely thrown off by the wig), Marsha Ambrosius (perfect song choice), and the lovely Pastor Shirley Ceaser (took me to church).  Beyonce’s performance of course she killed it performing Best Thing I Never Had and Until The End of Time.  But the one that left me the most disturbed was Ricky Rozay with the shirt wide the hell open and I quote from my twitter homie @shyheim410 “Ross out there like he fresh out of a scene from “Miami Vice”.

Tiffany Green, guest presenter presented the Viewers Choice award to Chris Brown then Rihanna but the winner was actually Drake but Kevin Hart corrected the mistake and announced that Breezy was actually the winner. I’m just as confused! Talk about an awkward moment!

All in all I actually enjoyed it and surprisingly I didn’t lose interest.  Catch the recap of a few of my favorites.  What did you guys think?

Chris Brown

Trey Songz & Kelly Rowland
